A 4-Day Miami Itinerary Made for New Yorkers

There’s a reason so many New Yorkers trade subway rides for sunshine come winter.

With Delta Airlines’ regular flights from New York City to Miami starting at just $129, escaping the chill has never been easier.

In this 4-day itinerary, you’ll find the perfect mix of beach time, culture, and food. Keep reading to plan your perfect getaway!

1. Day 1: Sun, Sand, and Urban Chill

Let’s face it: The northeast winds and cold are doing no favors for anyone.

Which is why the first thing you do after arriving is head straight to South Beach—no negotiations. Unlike the packed sidewalks of Manhattan, here you stretch out in the sun on silky white sand, flanked by pastel-perfect Art Deco buildings.

But South Beach isn’t just for people-watching (although, yeah, it’s Olympic-level here). You should also wander South Pointe Park for a shaded escape with prime views of cruise ships drifting by and a pier where locals fish for tarpon at sunset.

The crowd, you’ll find, has plenty of New Yorkers soaking up the freedom from winter.

Oh, and for the evening: Grab cocktails at The Cleat on Key Biscayne. It’s quiet, with water glowing gold and the skyline behind you, and trust us—everyone back home will be jealous of the photos you take there.

2. Day 2: Wynwood Walls, Gallery Hopping, and Cuban Color

We recommend you start your second day in Miami with Wynwood Walls, which is Miami’s outdoor museum of street art.

New Yorkers know murals and have high standards for urban art, so Wynwood delivers with bold pieces and creative energy that rivals Bushwick but with palm trees.

After you’re done taking photos in front of jaw-dropping murals, if you’d like to dive deeper, we suggest you hit up the Pérez Art Museum Miami for an exhibition that won’t feel like déjà vu from Chelsea.

Then switch neighborhoods—walk Calle Ocho in Little Havana.

Sip Cuban coffee from a ventanita, listen to salsa spill into the street, and catch elders crushing dominoes in Maximo Gomez Park.

And if you want music? Café La Trova is your spot for dinner and live Cuban bands. By midnight, you’re dancing—on tables or not, up to you.

3. Day 3: Let the Food Rule the Day

NYC’s culinary scene is legendary, but Miami’s not backing down—and the city’s been on the receiving end of a downright pipeline from the Big Apple.

Start with Cote Miami in the Design District: futuristic Korean steakhouse, New York hype, local swagger. Their Butcher’s Feast is a blowout—think Rockefeller-level dinner but with tropical ingredients and a price that’ll make your accountant give a thumbs-up.

However, if you love a classic New York slice, Joe’s Pizza in Wynwood is a simple, foldable miracle after bar-hopping. You’ll get nostalgia and comfort.

For lunch, we always say: go for street food. You can try El Rey de las Fritas for a legendary Cuban frita burger, The Walking Taco Food Truck for spicy authentic tacos, or Trap Seafood Truck for a bold seafood boil you won’t forget.

Finally, dinner is a coin toss: go Italian with Pastis Miami (yes, the NYC staple), or trade up with the Cuban-Korean-Peruvian mashup at Amelia’s 1931.

4. Day 4: Everglades, Coral Gables, and Coconut Grove

Your final day in Miami is about exploring what you rarely find in New York: untouched nature.

For starters, you could venture into Everglades National Park on a half-day airboat tour. Glide through grass marshes with alligators all around, and hear guides spin tales about the land (and its legendary weirdness). It’s real Florida, and you’ll feel far from any subway platform.

From there, cool off in the Venetian Pool in Coral Gables. It’s the largest freshwater public pool in the US, built inside an old rock quarry and refilled by a natural aquifer daily—so there’s no way you’re not gonna love it.

Now for the local’s route: Head to Coconut Grove. Walk Dinner Key Marina at sunset, enjoy seafood at Regatta Grove, and take in the Old Florida vibe along green parks and waterfront.

By sundown, you’ll be relaxed, recharged, and ready to go back north!
