It’s not always easy to find a truly authentic Algerian restaurant, but at Igherssan Restaurant in the City of Bridges, Constantine, I pretty much found just that.
And were that not enough, this place has some of the best bridge and gorge views in the whole city. No booze though, but hey that’s just a thing in Algeria.

What the Igherssan Restaurant?
Igherssan is a family-run restaurant located in the heart of old Constantine. It sits perched above the Rhumel Gorge, right next to one of the main pedestrian suspension bridges, offering diners a view that is as dramatic as the city itself. The restaurant is locally owned, though the exact proprietor is not publicly listed. Its reputation is built on serving traditional Algerian dishes with consistent quality.
The decor is classic Algerian, with staff dressed in traditional attire reflecting local culture. The restaurant has been popular among locals and tourists alike for providing authentic cuisine while making the most of its incredible location.

The Food and the Vibe
Location, location, location is what they say, and this place nails it. The restaurant is on the gorge and connected to one of the main pedestrian suspension bridges, giving diners one of the best views in Constantine. The interior is decorated in traditional Algerian style, which includes what the staff wear. Staff are friendly and genuinely warm, more Mediterranean than French in their service style.
The food itself is very good. I went for the veal on Algerian pasta, which is apparently a local specialty and it was excellent. My companion had cordon bleu and enjoyed it, while vegetarian friends opted for pizza. There is no alcohol, but Hamoud Cola worked perfectly. Between the view, the service, and the food, the restaurant offers everything you want from a Constantine dining experience.
