Looking for the best burger on Gili T? Well look no further as the newly opened Dirty Burger ticks pretty much every box worth ticking.
And this is all in spite of only being open for two months, with the joint fast gaining a superb reputation. How have they done it? Well there are obviously a lot of reasons, but chief among them is that not only is everything fresh, but instead of packing the menu with too much shit, they’ve instead designed three all but perfect burgers.

What the Dirty Burger
Dirty Burger opened in late 2025 and is owned by a French guy who has been living on Gili T for around five years. Having spent much of his life in Marseille, he wanted to replicate how good burger joints work back home rather than serving the usual backpacker rubbish. The idea was simple. Keep the menu tight, focus on quality ingredients, and do burgers properly rather than trying to please everyone. The result is a place that feels deliberate rather than accidental, and that shows in both the food and how quickly it has built a reputation on the island.
The Dirty Burger Gili T Menu
The menu is small, but hits all the points that you need. Essentially there are three beef burgers, some chicken burgers, and nuggets. And that is pretty much it. I tried all three burgers, which can be had with fries and a beer or soft drink. This is a menu for when you want a good burger, not just because you feel peckish.
Dirty Burgers (Wagyu Smash Beef)
- The BIG Dirty: Flagship wagyu smash burger with dirty sauce and American cheese. IDR 95,000 (~$5.62 USD).
- Dirty Rodeo Burger: Wagyu patty loaded with crispy onions and BBQ notes. IDR 105,000 (~$6.21 USD).

Eating a Dirty Burger
OK, so I will start with how they are made. These are traditional smash style burgers using the boss’s recipe, but made off site. The sauces though for the most part are done in house. These include a Mango Chipotle that is crazy good, as well as the “dirty sauce”. Thus is their take on Big Mac Sauce, which seems to be a thing on the island.
I got the meal which came with a Bintang, as well as the fries. These are very FRENCH fries/chips, rather than French fries of the American ilk. Great with the sauce, as well as vinegar ala English me.
Now the burgers, I went for the Big Dirty and the Rodeo. Both were big well built good looking burgers that carried their shape and flavour. Of the two the Dirty Rodeo was the king and big enough that I needed to put it down just once. Great patty with the beef bacon and caramelized onions being the kicker here. Big enough to eat with one hand, but not spa big to end up on my shirt and having me in a food coma.
Therefore and having seen the competition I declare this the best burger in Gili T, at least for the time being. G Burgerz and Burger House probably come next in line, although many non burger restaurants also offer decent patties. Many of these offer “Big Mac Sauce”. You will though ave to wait for Bali to try Indonesian McDonalds.
