Speakeasy Wagyu & Whiskey Lounge is the latest addition to the somewhat spartan nightlife that exists in Koror. As the name suggests it specializes in wagyu and high end whisky.
A great concept of course but how well does it sit in a place like Palau? Well it is a bit #ItsComplicated.

What is the Speakeasy Wagyu & Whiskey Lounge
The Speakeasy Wagyu & Whiskey Lounge was started by local entrepreneurs who wanted to bring something fancier to Koror. The concept is wagyu beef served in tapas style with Japanese and other premium whiskies.
The interior is dark wood and moody giving it a speakeasy vibe. The menu changes depending on availability and focuses on wagyu and bar snacks rather than full meals. It is more about indulgence and atmosphere than feeding a crowd.

As you would expect from a wagyu and whisky bar the menu is dominated by wagyu and whisky. It is not a steakhouse but wagyu tapas such as sandwiches BBQ pieces sliders and skewers. There are other bar snacks like wings and shrimp but all of it is small plates rather than meals. It is pretty good if far from cheap
Drinks are mostly whisky with a focus on Japanese brands. Beers are available but not cheap. A Bud Light costs around six dollars. Availability depends on what is in stock

The Speakeasy Wagyu & Whiskey Lounge Vibe
The location is within walking distance of the Canoe Bar but tucked down dark alleys in the boonies giving it a hidden speakeasy feel. On entrance the interior is very cool dark wood and moody.
When I visited we were the only people there. Service was friendly but most of the conversation was about what was not available. Apparently this is as busy as it gets. It is a concept that would work better in larger cities but in Koror it is mostly theory brought to life.
