Street Food Teedin Pattaya

Street Food Teedin

Street eats within Thailand are so good that it is almost pointless writing about every single corner that you find, but I am going to make an exception for the street food Teedin scene that I just found in Pattaya.

This corner of madness featured a whole heap of proper street food vendors, some weird stuff and of course a Mixue Chinese ice-cream shop, as they are basically bloody everywhere now.

What the Pattaya and Teedin

Pattaya has a bad reputation for good reason. It is a city of neon lights, endless bars, and tourists chasing chaos rather than culture. Walking Street is infamous, and Teedin is right next to it, meaning you get all the energy and madness without being in the thick of the party.

Streets are busy, crowded with small hotels, markets, and scooters weaving through pedestrians. It is not serene, and the beach is often full of junk and litter, but there is an authentic Thai vibe. The locals are friendly, the food is excellent, and it is cheap.

The Street Food Teedin Scene

Essentially on a corner block by the hotels there is an area set aside with maybe 30 street food vendors, some chain restaurants and seats to deal with customers. This is very much a contrived or set up scene, but that does not take away from the quality; it is everything good about Thai street food.

Basically every Thai favorite is here from Pad Thai to Thai BBQ, fruit juices and a whole heap of fish and other seafood. There’s also Thai takes on western food such as fried chicken and burgers. So, although it is somewhat contrived, pretty much every food group is covered.

And the Food?

I went pretty much balls deep by eating like a bear. This consisted of some burgers, fried chicken, sausages, spicy squid salad and a bunch of drinks. The burgers I could not work out if it was independent or part of a chain, but my double burger double cheese with bacon was epic. Interestingly it was cooked a little bit rare which I liked.

And there was the squid. Frankly, while Cambodia comes a close second, Thailand probably does the best tasting and best value squid in the world. The rest was all up to par as well, particularly the lychee juice and the slightly spicy fried chicken. Honestly this area justified the trip in itself.
