I’ve been meaning to check out Williams Fish and Chips for a while, a place that is allegedly the best fish and chip shop in Siem Reap. Well with any claim like this, I feel that it is better I judge this rather than the great unwashed.
So, is Williams the best fish and chip shop in Siem Reap? Well the short answer is that yes, yes it is, but it is economies of scale. You see while there are different restaurants doing fish and chips in the city, Williams is also the only fish and chip shop. And you know, it is kinda hard to screw that up…

What the Williams Fish and Chip shop?
Williams Fish and Chips has been in Siem Reap for years and is run by an expat couple who clearly know what they’re doing when it comes to fish and chips in the middle of Cambodia. The shop is a small takeaway style restaurant on Sivutha Boulevard near the centre of town.
It feels like a proper fish and chip shop you might find in the UK, with a few tables if you want to sit down, but mostly people get food to go. They also do wraps and chicken dinners alongside the classics, so there is a bit of variety if you’re not just craving fish and chips. At its core though it’s “British” comfort food in Cambodia that doesn’t pretend to be anything else.

The Williams fish and chip shop menu
OK, so the menu here is simple, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. They do fish and chips as the main item, and then they have a fish sandwich, wraps, chicken dinners, and sides.
They’ve got beer, which is great, but no soda water, which did kinda suck a bit.
Here are the actual menu items and prices:
- Fresh local fish and chips in crispy beer batter with French fries comes with mushy peas/coleslaw and buttered bread – 6.50 USD
- Fillet’O fish and chips – $6
- Sausage roll, chips and beans – $5.50
- Big Mac – $6
- All Day Breakfast Burger – (sausage, bacon, egg and cheese) $75.0
- Cheese Burger/Double Cheese Burger – $2.50/5
- Bacon Double Cheese Bong Burger – $6
- Onion rings – 2.00 USD
- Coleslaw – 0.75 USD
- Cheesy chips – 3.50 USD
- “Chips” $2.50
- Beers $1
- Soft Drinks .75 cents

How did the best fish and chip shop in Siem Reap taste?
OK, I’ll head right in and say they did a great job overall, but that is not to say things were perfect. The battered fish was awesome and amazingly not overcooked. No idea what the fish was, but it was in the cod type family. It came with good tartare sauce as well as very good mushy peas, a true unsung hero of chip shop culture.
Now let’s talk about the Siem Reap Williams Big Mac! This was a decent burger, not the best in Siem Reap by a long shot and neither was it a Big Mac. It was though decent.
We do though have to talk about the chips. These were not chips at all, they were French fries and a poor version of what you get at Burger King. Making real chips is bloody easy, so I don’t know why they would not do this right. The only plus here was you can spray the fries with vinegar.
So, yes best fish and chip shop in Siem Reap, but they really do need to work on the chips.
