Best Irish Bar in Hua Hin – Father Teds

Father Ted Hua Hin

Being the best Irish bar in Hua Hin is a bit like bronze medal at an obscure sport at the special Olympics, you get  the prize, but it really is not worth all that much.

So I have already covered the nightlife of Hua Hin and the hotel that is opposite Father Teds Irish Bar, but not the bar itself. Well now I have tried said place.

Father Ted Hua Hin Address;

19 Damnernkasem Road, Hua Hin, Amphoe Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan 77110, Thailand

Bars in Hua Hin

The Hua Hin bar scene, which I have covered in my previous article, but to summarize it is aimed at an older crowd, with “Walking Street” resembling a knackers yard for ladies of the night.

This is supplemented by an eclectic mix of retiree couples and young people such as ourselves who have somehow ended up here.

There is though also a whole other side I discovered on this trip, such as street food, decent local restaurants, as well as a secret nightlife which goes on after 2 am within the “club” at the Hilton.

You can read about Hilton Port Moresby here.

Why the Father Ted?

When I first saw the Father Red Bar it was quite literally a few months after I had visited TedFest on Innis Mor, a pure celebration of all things Father Ted.

If you do not know what Father Ted is then check the following link, or read my articles, but without doubt one of the best TV shows ever made.

And as I noted whilst glancing at the place the perfect name for an Irish bar, yet one I had not seen until Hua Hin.

The Father Red Hua Hin Guide

So, as you’d expect this is quite a social hub, as well as being particularly popular with the British crowd, Ironically there is an English pub next door which does craft beer, but no one seems to care.

Drinks wise they have everything you’d expect, which includes Guinness and Jameson, with the food being based around pies (which were not great), as well as an Irish breakfast, fit with white pudding that were great. I also personally enjoyed the loading Mexican fries, testament to the global eclectic nature of the menu.

And of course they also have Thai food, although who would come here for Thai food truly does beat me……

So, overall a decent place to come and eat, but as someone who has truly lived the Father Ted life at TedFest 2023, I have to say it did not love anywhere up to its iconic name.
